As an organisation, we value the support of volunteers and benefit from the dedication of a passionate team across a range of roles and responsibilities. Whether it’s sorting and distributing rescued food, assisting with educational programmes, or supporting community engagement initiatives, our volunteers play a vital role in our mission to tackle food insecurity and promote sustainability.
VOLUNTEERING
GET INVOLVED
We welcome volunteers who can commit to a regular working pattern as well as individuals or groups looking to support on a more short-term basis. Whether you have a few hours a week to spare or are looking for a one-off volunteering experience, there are plenty of ways to get involved and make a real impact.
Here are some of the ways you can help:
FOOD WAREHOUSE
SUPPORT
Support our team at the warehouse with a variety of tasks including unloading food from the delivery vans, weighing in food items, sorting and quality assuring food deliveries, processing food ready for redistribution. Some level of manual lifting/handling is required (training is provided).
FOOD
COLLECTIONS
Help us collect food from across the city. We regularly need drivers and drivers’ assistants to travel across the region in our fleet of vans to collect food from supermarkets and wholesalers. Some level of manual lifting / handling is required (training is provided).
FOOD
DELIVERIES
Once the food has been quality assured and repackaged, it needs to be delivered to our school partners. As with food collections we value volunteer support in the form of drivers and drivers’ assistants. Some level of manual lifting / handling is required (training is provided).
CORPORATE
SUPPORT DAYS
We welcome small groups of volunteers from businesses to our food warehouse to support with daily activities as outlined above.
ADMIN
SUPPORT
As an organisation we have many administration and communication duties to complete on an ongoing basis. We welcome volunteer support across a range of these tasks.
SPECIALIST
SUPPORT
As with admin, the range of general tasks we have to complete as an organisation is vast. We welcome specialist support from individuals or groups who have a specific area of expertise.
WORK
EXPERIENCE
We have a limited number of work experience placements available throughout the year and welcome applications from students, graduates and individuals looking for experience within the third sector.
INCLUSIVE
OPPORTUNITIES
We are a disability confident employer and promote a culture of inclusivity. We work to offer volunteering opportunities based on this ethos.
