I waited 35 years to buy a pair of trainers.

Not just any pair. The Jordan 6. The shoe Michael Jordan wore when he won his first NBA title.

As a kid, they felt mythical. They were in magazines, on posters, on the feet of people who seemed a world away from my own. I really wanted them but we simply could not afford them.

So I learned early how to want something quietly.

That desire never really went away. It evolved. I became a sneaker head (if you know, you know).

Watching releases. Following drops. Chasing resale pairs that were nearly affordable, but never quite enough to justify.

Then on Monday, it happened.

A shock drop on the Nike SNKRS app. Right place, at the right moment.

Click. Done.

When the box yesterday arrived, it felt like more than trainers.
It felt like closing a loop. Finally owning them reminded me that some things mean more because they take time.

We live in a world that pushes instant access. But not everything needs to arrive quickly to matter. Some things are better earned slowly.

What are you still quietly waiting for? And what might the waiting itself be teaching you. Because occasionally, the long game really is worth it.
