In 2022, Rethink Food partnered with the Greggs Foundation to deliver a bespoke, health-focused curriculum to their 750 Breakfast Club Schools across the UK. This three-year initiative, called Agents of Change, is designed to inspire children to make healthier choices and understand their role in creating a more sustainable world.

Running from September 2022 to July 2025, making it one of the largest health and sustainability initiatives of its kind in UK schools.

The Greggs Foundation’s support has enabled us to develop an engaging, curriculum-aligned programme that combines classroom learning with hands-on activities. Pupils explore topics such as healthy eating, sustainability, physical activity, and the environmental impact of their choices, all through the lens of our four animated “Agents of Change,” each representing a different area of health and wellbeing.

Through this partnership, schools and children benefit from:

  • Engaging, interactive lessons on health, nutrition, and sustainability

  • Practical classroom resources including activities, quizzes, and teacher handbooks

  • A whole-school approach to healthy living, linking learning with breakfast clubs and school meals

  • Empowerment for pupils to become advocates for positive change in their homes and communities

By the end of the three-year programme, thousands of children across the UK will have the knowledge and confidence to make healthier, more sustainable choices, creating ripple effects that extend to families and local communities.

“The partnership between Rethink Food and the Greggs Foundation represents a transformative and sustainable initiative that significantly impacts students, schools, and communities by fostering a culture of sustainability and healthy living.”
– Tracey Lynch, Foundation Manager, Greggs Foundation

“Agents of Change is about more than lessons in the classroom, it’s about empowering the next generation to take ownership of their health and the planet. Working with the Greggs Foundation allows us to reach thousands of children who might otherwise miss out on this vital learning, and together we’re creating lasting change in schools and communities across the UK.”
– Nathan Atkinson, Co-Founder, Rethink Food

The Agents of Change programme continues to grow in reach and impact. Together, Rethink Food and the Greggs Foundation are creating a legacy of healthier children, stronger communities, and a more sustainable future.
