Ocado Retail, one of the UK’s leading online grocery retailers, has been a vital partner to Rethink Food in supporting our mission to improve food security, reduce food waste, and promote health and sustainability. Through their surplus food scheme and funding contributions, Ocado Retail has helped us empower schools, families, and communities across Leeds and Bradford.

The Impact
Thanks to Ocado Retail’s surplus food scheme, Rethink Food has been able to support:

  • 45 schools across the region, delivering food and resources to children in need.
  • Over 2,334 families, helping them access surplus food to improve their food security.
  • 15 community groups, strengthening local networks and fostering collective action to reduce food waste.

In addition to providing surplus food, Ocado Retail’s funding has been instrumental in enhancing Rethink Food’s innovative education programs. These programs, including our Agents of Change initiative, empower young people to make healthier food choices, reduce food waste, and adopt sustainable habits that benefit their well-being and the planet.

Abigail Mines, Food Waste and Communities Manager, Ocado Retail comments:
