We’ve been blown away by the incredible entries we’ve received for our Agents of Change – Eco Competition so far!  Schools across the UK are coming up with brilliant, creative ideas to make a real difference in their communities and we want as many schools as possible to get involved.

Remember, no idea is a bad idea – this competition is about innovation, sustainability, and positive action. Need some inspiration? Here are a few ideas to get you started:

🌱 Green Spaces & School Gardens

Transform an area of your school grounds into a thriving garden where students can learn about growing food, composting, and biodiversity. Not only does this provide hands-on learning, but it also creates a beautiful outdoor space for your school.

♻️ Recycling & Waste Reduction Projects

Launch or expand a recycling programme at your school. How about an art project using recycled materials, a school-wide waste challenge, or even a clothes swap event to encourage reusing and repurposing?

💡 Energy Efficiency Initiatives

Get your students thinking about how to reduce energy consumption at school. Ideas could include switching to LED lighting, running a “Power Down” challenge, or tracking energy use as part of a class project.

🚲 Sustainable Travel Campaigns

Encourage eco-friendly travel by organising initiatives like “Bike to School Day” or a walking challenge. Not only will this cut down emissions, but it will also promote healthier lifestyles for students.

💧 Water Conservation Efforts

Raise awareness about water waste with creative projects such as rainwater collection systems or school-wide water-saving challenges. Small actions can make a big impact!

🔄 Reduce, Reuse, Recycle Initiatives

Launch a toy exchange, second-hand book swap, or uniform reuse programme. Even simple projects like upcycling crafts – turning old cards and gift wrap into bookmarks or gift tags – can inspire sustainable habits.

🏘  Community Partnerships

Work with local eco-friendly businesses or environmental groups to host workshops, run joint projects, or bring in guest speakers to educate students on sustainability.
